June 19, 2011 at Tagara Daini elementary school in Tokyo Rika Usami, JKF national team female kata member, visited an elementary school for kata demonstration and a lecture.
Motoko Tomizawa, the principal of this school invited R.Usami because she gained a gold medal at the 16th Asian Games in China, 2010. Also, she is known as a bronze medalist at the 20th WKF world championships held in Serbia, 2010.
About 250 students from 5 & 6th grade and their parents, people living near from this school assembled in a hall and were attracted to Usami’s Tomari Bassai demonstration. And then Usami gave a speech as follows:
– What’s Karate?
– Why I started Karate?
– About victory in Asian Games
– How to overcome any problems etc.
